The First Lady of The Gambia now has an official Facebook page, and more than 1,000 people clicked “like” in the first hour after it was opened last week.
In her inaugural post, Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow wrote: “Hello and welcome to my official Facebook page! I am excited to be here to directly engage with you about my activities as your First Lady. I look forward to more fruitful engagements about how to take The Gambia forward, together!"
More than 400 Gambian Facebook users liked the post with some congratulating the First Lady.
Yero Jallow of YBJ Business Management Enterprise (YBMES) wrote: “Good move, communication is key in establishing transparency and accountability. I wish you a successful engagement with the people.”
US-based political activist, Saihou Mballow also commented: “Keep up the good job that you are doing by providing clean drinking water, and helping out needy women and children.”
Another Facebook user, Assan Saine congratulated the First Lady saying: “Keep doing what you doing and be strong.”
One of the First Lady’s followers, CK Saidy described her as a "humble, peace-loving and very down to earth woman".
Fatoumatta’s page is gaining a lot of attention. It now has over 4,000 followers and counting.
